Morelos.— Jair Morón Valdés, leader of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods in the eastern region of Morelos (Canirac), was murdered on Christmas night in the Municipality of Yautepec.

Reports to the emergency number indicated that the businessman was executed in one of his establishments, called “Barbie Chelas”, located in the town of Oaxtepec, in the spa area.

Authorities indicated that preliminary reports establish that around 8:00 p.m. two subjects who were traveling on a motorcycle arrived at the bar and one of them fired his weapon at Morón, who also owned other restaurants in Cuautla.

Morón was a businessman who was critical of the insecurity in Morelos, an entity governed by Cuauhtémoc Blanco.

In a message released in November, he regretted that the violence in the state delayed the “Sabor es Morelos” event in the eastern region.

This festival seeks to promote regional gastronomy.

However, he criticized that insecurity also affected the arrival of tourism.

“We see how the situation in the region is and that has caused this event to be delayed, but we are working so that we can carry it out shortly, since it would be the first to be carried out,” he then trusted in a message to local media.

Regarding the violence that plagues Morelos, the state authorities have limited themselves to reiterating that 14 organized crime groups operate in the state.
