Mexico City.- Mexico City will reach an economic income of 3 thousand 288 million pesos for the celebration of Mother’s Day, which represents an increase of 39 percent compared to last year, estimated the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of the Mexico City (Kanaco).

According to forecasts, 82,000 economic units in the country’s capital will benefit from the celebration, mainly from businesses such as: jewelry stores, restaurants, flower shops, clothing, footwear, perfumery, sweets, electronic devices, white goods, household goods and car agencies.

José de Jesús Rodríguez Cárdenas, president of the organization, noted that with this rate, the expenditure exerted prior to the Covid-19 pandemic will practically be exceeded.

According to Canaco, the expected spending this year represents 2 percent more than the 2019 spill.

Rodríguez Cárdenas pointed out that 4.2 million women are registered in Mexico City, of which more than 66 percent are mothers.

“The average expense for each of the more than 2,790,000 mothers who live here would be between 800 and 1,200 pesos,” the agency said in a statement.

In 2020, the year of the outbreak of the pandemic in Mexico and the world, the celebration of May 10 left a spill of 535 million pesos, an 84 percent drop compared to 2019.
