LONDON.- The British justice today -May 21- dismissed the prince’s request Harry and other personalities to include Rupert Murdoch in the process against the tabloid publisher The Sunowned by the Australian tycoon, for illegal collection of information.
The son of King Charles III accuses News Group Newspapers (NGN) of having used private detectives to obtain information about his private life, something the publisher denies, so a trial is scheduled for January.
The judge is due to rule today on a request by the plaintiffs to integrate new elements into the current process, including Rupert Murdoch, arguing that he was aware of the allegedly illegal activities of The Sun.
Although he accepted some requests, the judge rejected the one directed against the naturalized American Australian tycoon.
“While it may be tempting for (the plaintiffs) to try to accuse the man at the top, this will add nothing to the conclusion that other senior executives knew and were involved, if that turns out to be the case,” Judge Timothy said. Francourt in his written decision.
Harry’s Complaint
In this case against NGN, the judge had already dismissed the accusations of hacking of telephone messages that the prince denounced. In April he also rejected an appeal from NGN that could have delayed the trial.
In this case, the actor Hugh Grant announced at the end of April that he had reached a financial agreement with the publishing group, ending the process that affected him.
Among the rest of the plaintiffs are the film director Guy Ritchie and several former politicians.
Prince Harry already got the MGN group, publisher of the newspaper, condemned in December. Daily Mirrorfor hacking telephone messages.
The youngest son of King Charles III then signed a financial agreement in February, which ended other proceedings for illegal information gathering against the same publisher.
Harry, who left the United Kingdom in 2020, along with his wife Meghan Markle, has also initiated proceedings against the publisher of the Daily Mail.
