Sonora, Mexico.- Five people were detained after the rescue of 113 migrants in San Luis del Río Colorado, in Sonora, reported the State Security Bureau.

Security sources from the border municipality reported that they were men, women and children of different nationalities found in the El Mezquital neighborhood.

“They had been deprived of their liberty for several days in some houses located on Avenida Amapolas B between 21 and 22 streets. Five alleged criminals were also arrested and several firearms were seized at the site,” the statement said.

The Sonora Prosecutor’s Office explained that the discovery of these hundred kidnapped foreigners derived from the actions to rescue 10 Colombians who reported having been kidnapped on May 2.

“Following up on the investigations into the extortion and illegal deprivation of liberty of 10 migrants, originally from Colombia, coordinated by the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE).

“This time people from El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, the United States, India, Peru, Nepal, Bangladesh, Cuba, Colombia, Brazil and Afghanistan were saved,” the statement detailed.

In addition to the security forces of the three orders of Government, the Red Cross, Municipal Firefighters and Civil Protection personnel participated in the operation.

The detainees were identified as Jaime Noé “N”, 20 years old, and Axcel Yoan “N”, 22, both from Honduras, Leobardo “N”, 49; Carlos Aaron “N”, 34, from Hermosillo, Sonora; and Jesús Armando “N”, 40, originally from Nacozari de García, Sonora.
