A French production
Friday, February 3, 2023 is to mark a milestone for French audiovisual. To everyone’s surprise, an original creation “made in” France has just dethroned the pandemic roller The Last of Us on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Ziad Doueri (Baron Noir) and co-created by the duo Duong Dan-Thai and Corinne Garfin (screenwriters on Le Bureau des Légendes), Coeurs Noirs is a 6-episode series set in the war in Iraq, the day before the battle of Mosul, i.e. the month of October 2016.
Carried by a solid cast (Nicolas Duchauvelle, Marie Dompnier, Tewfik Jallab, Nina Meurisse, Jérémy Nadeau or even Thierry Godard), this French series focuses on the members of a French Special Forces commando during an exfiltration, that of the daughter and grandson of a French Emir of Daesh. The latter agrees to cooperate with them only on this one and only condition.
This original program produced by Amazon Studios quickly became the most watched series on the SVOD service in France, ahead of HBO’s flagship production…The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. It must be said that Coeurs Noirs was able to seduce Prime subscribers with its meticulous production and its strong themes, proof of which is the 4.2/5 awarded by spectators on AlloCiné (3.9/5 for the press). Coeurs Noirs, which is TOP 1 on Amazon Prime, is THE surprise of this beginning of the year.
An advanced episode 5
Episodes of The Last of Us are supposed to be broadcast on Sunday evenings on HBO Max in the United States and therefore in the night from Sunday to Monday in France on Amazon Prime. However, the fifth episode of the adventures of Ellie and Joel will bend the rule. In effect, Super Bowl LVII (2022) between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs begins Monday, February 13 at 12:30 a.m.or right in the slot “reserved” by The Last of Us.
TLOU can’t decently compete with one of the biggest sporting events of the year, especially in North America. HBO has therefore taken the decision to advance the broadcast of episode 5 in order to avoid a confrontation lost in advance. Episode 5 of season 1 of The Last of Us will therefore be made available to HBO subscribers on the night of Saturday February 11 to Sunday February 12, 2023, 24 hours before.
The Black Hearts series has been available on Amazon Prime Video since February 3, 2023.
