The MSCHF art collective grabbed headlines in February after unveiling the Big Red Boots at New York Fashion Week. Now, he is once again impressing the world of fashion and art presenting he pocket smallest in the world: a microscopic version of the Louis Vuitton OnTheGo model.

“As a once functional object, like a bag, gets smaller and smaller, its object status becomes more and more abstract until it becomes a mere brand signifier”added the collective.

According to him NOWKevin Wiesner, creative director of MSCHF, said that the bag was created from resin through a process called two-photon polymerization, a kind of 3D printing for microscopic objects. The OnTheGo model was chosen because its design could be legibly reproduced on such a small scale. According to MSCHF, the bag will be sold in a pre-assembled sealed gel box under a microscope with a digital display.
The bag will be sold in lots this month at Just Phriends, an auction organized by Sarah Andelman, former creative director of Parisian boutique Colette and Joopiter, the auction house founded by Pharrell Williams, who in February was named creative director for Louis Vuitton’s menswear line.
Wiesner said that MSCHF had not asked permission to use the Louis Vuitton logo or designeven though Williams was recently named the luxury brand’s menswear designer. “We’re big on the ‘ask for forgiveness, not permission’ school.”, he pointed out, according to the NOW. “Pharrell loves big hats, so we made him an incredibly small bag,” Wiesner added.
In addition to Big Red Boots, other MSCHF releases include the sandalias “Birkinstock” of $76,000, made up of Birkin bags (launched without the authorization of Birkenstock or Hermès), as well as a by “Jesus Shoes”, or custom Nike Air Max 97s containing holy water from the Jordan River.
