Three high school students are urgently hospitalized with signs of overdose

MIAMI.- Three students from a Broward high school were urgently hospitalized after showing signs of overdose, presumably after eating food containing drugs, according to authorities.

The incident occurred this Monday, December 12, at Lauderdale Lakes High School, at 3911 NW 30th Avenue, in Broward, according to Michael B. Kane, chief of Broward Sheriff’s Fire and Rescue.

“The affected students showed signs of overdose.”

Authorities do not know exactly what substances the students ingested and transported them to Broward Health Medical Center and HCA Florida Northwest Hospital as a precaution.

It is the second time in two weeks that students from that school have been detected taking drugs on campus, according to Local 10 News.

On November 27, a student at that high school took what he thought was a candy and it turned out to contain THC, a psychoactive substance present in the Cannabis plant. The student was completely drugged.

According to a Broward Public Schools District spokesperson, they are investigating these events.

The school district urged parents to talk to their children about the danger of consuming unknown, unpackaged products obtained from anyone.

Students who knowingly use or distribute illicit substances on campus may be subject to disciplinary consequences.
