A new study by the LendingTree portal found that the percentage of domestic flights that were delayed and on the tarmac for 61 minutes or more increased by more than 19 percent between the beginning of last year and the beginning of this year.
Three of the airports with the highest percentage of domestic flights with tarmac delays are located in our area.
Hayden Colorado Airport tops the list, with more than four percent occurrences.
In second place is JFK Airport, with about three and a half percent of its flights experiencing tarmac delays of at least an hour.
Number three is Newark Airport, with nearly three percent of its flights delayed on the tarmac for at least an hour.
And LaGuardia Airport comes in at number 10 with almost two percent of incidents.
