Trump resumes campaign after assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump resumes his campaign today in his first public rally since last weekend’s assassination attempt and after accepting the Republican Party’s nomination for president.

Trump will be joined by his vice presidential nominee, Sen. JD Vance, in Michigan this afternoon.

An increased Secret Service and law enforcement presence is expected due to the shooting.

The Secret Service also recently stepped up security at Trump’s Mar a Lago residence in Florida, with new road closures in his neighborhood during the election period.

Meanwhile, Trump is also trying to woo his political allies.

Yesterday he spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first time in almost five years.

It was precisely a call with Zelenskyy that triggered Trump’s first impeachment.

Both Trump and Zelenskyy shared positive reactions to the conversation on social media.
