When it comes to Twitter, no stone is left unturned. Interfaces for third-party app providers were turned off, Twitter Blue also expanded to Germany and so many users have blue, meaningless badges.

The fact that company accounts are supposed to pay $1,000 a month for their golden logo also causes many users to shake their heads. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise, companies also buy some awards to show them on the company’s homepage, and they even pay for citations or grades / points from test reports of more or less unimportant publications.

But back to Twitter. Twitter Blue users are getting new characters for their money (we reported) and Twitter’s API is also making progress. It should only remain free for “good things”.

From 13.2. is the end of the free API. Basic paid access, which offers low API usage, and access to the Ads API is available for a monthly fee of $100. And free access for users is also generally restricted. Citation: “A new form of free access will be introduced as it is extremely important to our ecosystem – limited to the Tweet creation of up to 1,500 tweets per month for a single authenticated user token, including login with Twitter”.

Of course, that sounds bad at first, but it shouldn’t be a problem for normal users. Nonsensical retweet bots, aggregators and others may have to give up or dig deep. In any case, it gets exciting when Twitter doesn’t understand the balance between added value and nonsense and the users then really pull the brakes – because one thing strikes me: It feels like only a few people consistently stopped or switched to Mastodon.

In case something should happen: You can also find us at Mastodon, however, we rely on an automated feed. Conversations, discussions and content should always remain in the hands of authors or operators.
