Negotiations on a new contract between David de Gea (32) and Manchester United are nearing completion. This is reported by ESPN, adding that there is broad agreement on the content of the contract. Only details in the drafting of the contract have to be clarified. The Spanish keeper will take a pay cut while receiving better performance-related incentives.

Although United also have the option of extending the contract, which expires in the summer, by a year, they are certain that the working paper with new content will be signed shortly. The US TV broadcaster also reports that United will keep an eye on other candidates for the goalkeeper position until the summer in order to be prepared for any scenarios.
