Unreleased recordings of the singer who died in 2017 will soon see the light of day. His widow reached an agreement with the surviving members of Soundgarden.

After six years of legal battles, unreleased songs by Chris Cornell will finally be able to be broadcast, announced in a press release the surviving members of his group Soundgarden and Vicky Cornell, the singer’s widow.

“This tie-up marks a new collaboration between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the latest songs the band and Chris have been working on.”

“Both parties are now united to highlight the incredible legacy of Soundgarden, as well as the indelible mark that Chris left as one of the greatest songwriters and singers in the history of music.”

Seven unreleased recordings

Vicky Cornell had taken the members of Soundgarden to court and claimed the copyright for these unreleased recordings. She accused the members of the group of having refused to release these songs.

A posthumous album by Chris Cornell was released in December 2020. Consisting of covers recorded in 2016, including Watching The Wheels by John Lennon, this disc is called No One Sings Like You Anymore.

Chris Cornell, a very recognizable voice of the Seattle grunge scene, committed suicide on May 18, 2017 in his hotel room after a concert in Detroit, at the age of 52. Drugs were found in his body during the autopsy.
