Denis Guennadievitch Koulkov was charged by the federal attorney’s office in Brooklyn, New York, with computer fraud and money laundering.

Koulkov, 43, is accused of having created a computer platform, Try2Check, in 2005, allowing hackers to check the validity of “10 million credit cards” stolen every year.

This “is the largest monetary reward ever offered by the Secret Service”, according to a statement from this government agency, which added that Washington had collaborated with Berlin and Vienna in neutralizing the sites on the platform.

The creator, who lives in the Russian Federation, would have made 18 million dollars in illegal earnings, paid in digital currency, thanks to which he would have acquired a Ferrari car and other luxury objects, according to federal prosecutors.

In theory, Denis Koulkov risks a sentence of up to 20 in prison in the US.
