Nine studios from around the world (Spain, France, Chile, India…) have joined forces to reinterpret the famous saga through very varied animation styles. Airing May 4 on Disney+.

To mark the last day of the Star Wars Celebration convention in London since Friday, Lucasfilm has unveiled the trailer for the second season of Star Wars: Visions, Anthology anime series spin-off from the franchise.

This new part, which will be released on May 4 on Disney + on the occasion of Star Wars day (May the fourth), will consist of nine short films. Unlike the first season, which was made by seven of the best Japanese animation studios, this time the episodes of Star Wars: Visions will be animated by creators from all over the world.

As evidenced by the first trailer posted online on Monday, El Guiri studios (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Aardman (United Kingdom), Studio Mir (South Korea), 88 Pictures (India ), D’art Shtajio (Japan) and Triggerfish (South Africa) have joined forces to reinterpret the saga imagined by George Lucas through animation styles with a wide variety of techniques: 2D, 3D, stop-motion, drawing, paste to model…

The French animation studio La Cachette, which notably worked on the Netflix series Love, Death and Robotswill also be at the helm of an episode called The Spy Dancer. Released in 2021 on Disney+, season 1 of Star Wars: Visions had been hailed by critics for her creativity and for the fresh look she had brought to the famous saga.

Third and final season for “The Bad Batch”

Another headline announcement from Star Wars Celebration this Monday: the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be entitled to a third and final season, expected for 2024 on Disney +.

Created by David Filoni and broadcast since 2021, this program explores an exciting period of the Star Wars saga, but so far little explored: the transition between the Republic and the Empire, just after the events chronicled in Revenge of the Sith and in The Clone Wars.

This series follows the fearsome warriors of the “Bad Batch” – a troop of genetically modified clones. Now wanted by the Empire, they undertake mercenary missions while struggling to survive and find a new purpose for their existence.
