Winter sales 2023: the 27-inch LG 4K 160Hz G-Sync gamer screen for less than €650
We are talking about beautiful images, and this Lg ultraGear will offer nothing less. We benefit from a superb Nano-IPS panel. This technology is found on the brand’s televisions under the name “Nano Cell”, and it is quite similar to what Samsung offers under the name QLED. Clearly, the Nano-IPS will offer a richer color range than conventional IPS, better brightness, and an attenuated bloom effect (the famous blacks which are gray on IPS screens).
But since it is basically an IPS panel, we keep the many advantages that appeal to players. The response time is 1ms (gray to gray), while the refresh rate climbs to 160Hz. Please note, to take advantage of this performance, you must use a DisplayPort 1.3 cable and have a GPU compatible with DSC (all Nvidia RTX, as well as the GTX 1650 among others). Console players using HDMI 2.1 will have to make do with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, due to technical limitations.
Of course, such a screen is G-Sync and FreeSync compatible to eliminate tearing and stuttering problems. This is ultimately one of its few weak points, since other references reach 1000cd/m², which is particularly useful when playing in a brightly lit room. Note that this screen has no speakers, and if it is adjustable in height, inclination and has portrait mode, it does not have rotation.
