Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) does not rule out that his ministry will still have to launch an emergency program to meet climate protection goals in the transport sector. If there is no change in the climate protection law, “then there will be an emergency program. And it’s really easy to present that,” said Wissing on the ARD talk show “maischberger”. The FDP politician expressed his confidence that “you only have to look at the catalog in the coalition committee decision. There’s so much in it about additional CO2 – Saving that for us it’s a little thing.”

The transport minister also referred to his colleague in the cabinet, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen): “The legal situation is absolutely clear. The three-month period has been running since April 17th. And if we haven’t changed the Climate Protection Act by the end of this period, it’s not difficult for me to present an immediate programme,” emphasized Wissing.
