FC Lustenau 1907 invites you to the 20th international MB Michael Bischof indoor tournament.

Lustenau. The organizers are very happy, after a two-year break due to corona, the 20th edition of FC Lustenau’s international junior indoor tournament is coming up. From January 27th to 29th, teams from Austria, Germany and the Principality of Liechtenstein will be fighting for tournament victories, cups and medals in the gymnasium in Lustenau.

Preparations are currently in full swing. “Many clubs are still very interested in participating in the tournament after the Corona break,” says the OC team around Marc Schneider and David Grabher. What gives the two of them a sigh of relief: “We weren’t sure whether the demand for our event would still be there to the extent we were used to after this difficult time. Especially since January is the high season for youth indoor football and the choice of tournaments for the coaches is very wide.”

The U16 girls’ competition is well embedded in the tournament schedule. Since 2018, the girls’ teams have been an integral part of this junior event.

Since 2015, the older age groups from U14 and up have been playing according to futsal rules. That is, the boards are dismantled and there is a side out that results in kick-ins. In addition, the smaller special ball used in the game has less pressure. “Futsal promotes technically skilled football and minimizes the risk of injury. We have only had the best experiences with this type of game,” explains Schneider.

84 team from four nations

As in previous years, the organizational team will do everything in their power to offer the around 800 children and young people who come to Lustenau to play football this weekend the best possible conditions. This includes first-class catering and a supporting program with a large raffle.

A special event provides entertainment on Saturday evening. In an old men’s tournament with six teams, teams like “Willis Pub”, “FC Lustenau Old Men” or “Team 83” cross swords. And of course the experienced soccer players of SC Usambabschu want to take the challenge cup home with them as defending champions. In any case, a guarantee for well-groomed indoor soccer seems to be given. “And with the start of the old men’s tournament, things will really get going anyway, because we’re inviting you to a football party with hopefully many fans,” says David Grabher. The tournament starts on Friday (January 27th from 3:30 p.m./U14 – U18 until approx. 11:30 p.m.), on Saturday, January 28th The U7-U10 will play from 8.30 a.m. (evening event from 8.00 p.m.) and on the final day, Sunday, 29.1. From 8.30 a.m. the U11-U13 teams and the U16 girls will show their sporting skills. (cth)
