The man accused of throwing his girlfriend in front of a subway train last month has been charged with attempted murder and assault, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Prosecutors accuse Christian Valdez of pushing his 29-year-old girlfriend in front of a train at the Fulton Street station mid-morning on March 9.
“As alleged, Christian Valdez callously threw his girlfriend into an oncoming train,” prosecutor Bragg said. “His alleged vicious actions resulted in serious and permanent injuries, including the amputation of both of the victim’s legs. “We take all acts of violence against passengers very seriously and my thoughts are with the victim as she goes through this terrible and horrifying incident.”
“Today we announce the indictment against Christian Valdez for throwing his 29-year-old girlfriend in front of an approaching train at the Fulton Street station last month,” the prosecutor further wrote in a message on social media.

Police say Valdez, 35, fled to New Jersey but was captured hours later when he returned to the city.
In addition to the amputation of both legs, the woman also suffered blood clots in her lungs and fractured her ribs.
Valdez had had previous encounters with the law. A few months ago he was accused of stabbing a woman and her daughter and then when he was on parole of stabbing another woman and he was arrested. He was free after defense attorneys successfully argued before a judge that he be put back on probation, the Daily News reported.
