Men's fashion parades in Paris between shocks

PARS.- The moda male will meet from June 18 in Pars in an environment of shakeups, with changes of artistic directors, the departure of Dries Van Noten, or changes of stages for Paul Smith or Marine Serre, who chose to parade in Florence.

The most important event of the Parisian week, which continues to be the most dense in parades and presentations, is the catwalk of Louis Vuittonled by the American musician and creator, Pharrell Williams, who on Tuesday will organize a show that is usually spectacular.

And the closing of the week, Sunday the 23rd, will coincide with the celebration of a party organized by Voguethe centenary of fashion and sports in France, led by the well-known critic Anna Wintour, and a host of celebrities and sports stars.

One month before the Olympic Games, the event is organized in the Place Vendme in Paris, and is hosted by the model and actress Cara Delevingne.

A year of Pharrell Williams in LV

Pharrell Williams celebrates one year since his debut at the head of Louis Vuitton’s men’s collections. Last January he surprised with a colorful tribute to the cowboy world, a parade full of silver buckles, hats and high-top boots.

Then observers highlighted the coincidence of that parade and style with her friend Beyonc’s new album, Cowboy Cartera tribute to country music that has been a great sales success.

The world of luxury and celebrities are closely linked, in a mutually beneficial strategy that yields results.

Men’s fashion market

Thus, the French luxury group LVMH, sector leader and parent company of Louis Vuitton or Chanel, recorded sales and profits records in 2023.

That fashion world shakes accordingly with unexpected changes.

In March of this year, the Spanish house Puig, which controls Dries Van Noten, announced the withdrawal of the Belgian designer after almost four decades of dedication to fashion.

Dries Van Noten will parade for the last time on June 22. “It’s surprising to me, but men are more fashionable than women,” he declared in 2015.

The world of luxury and men’s fashion has already proven that it is a powerful market, with a forecast of nearly more than 640 billion dollars in turnover in 2028.

But brands, whether veteran or independent, struggle in a saturated market, in addition to the pressure of environmental directives.

The celebration of the Olympic Games forced the calendar of this spring-summer Men’s Fashion Week to advance.

Consequently, some brands gave up showing due to the tight schedule, such as Balmain, Givenchy or Valentino, whose new artistic director, Alessandro Michele, will be presented to the fashion world in September.

The response of other brands is to diversify their presence. Thus, the British Paul Smith and the French Marine Serre accepted the invitation of Pitti Uomo, the event in Florence, to present their creations this week, instead of Paris.

The Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson, at the head of Loewe, will show on Saturday the 22nd in Paris, but before that he will do so with his own brand, JW Anderson, in Milan.

Dior Man will show on June 21 in Paris, Herms on Saturday the 22nd.

The young independent Spanish creator Arturo Obegero turns five on the official calendar of the Fashion Week Parisian with a presentation on June 20, followed by the Berlin brand 032c.

After Men’s Fashion Week and the event Vogue It will be the turn of haute couture, which will parade between June 24 and 27.

The world of haute couture is experiencing its own shock with the unexpected departure of Virginie Viard, Chanel’s stylist, despite the record sales of this Parisian house.
