An 11-year-old girl has died after falling ill on a flight from Istanbul to New York on Sunday. The girl could not be saved despite the efforts of a doctor on board the plane and first responders in Budapest, where the plane made an emergency stop, airline officials said.
The minor, who has not yet been identified, became ill when the airline flight Turkish Airlines was en route to the United States, the airline said in a statement.
“Our cabin crew made the announcement over the public address system of any doctor on board as the flight captain immediately diverted to Budapest,” the airline said.
