The Fourth Sentencing Court of San Salvador sentenced the young Kevin Antonio García Muñoz, 24 years old, to 20 years of internment yesterday for the murder of two passengers on Route 52, in an exclusive trial for the application of security measures. security.

“It was determined, based on expert examinations, that he was a person not liable for prosecution, that is, he is not aware of the legal and illegal nature of his acts and therefore he was sentenced to maintain internment for a period of 20 years,” confirmed the defense attorney, Franklin Hernández.

An investigating judge determined that Kevin García had to face a trial for the application of measures after determining, through a psychiatric examination, that the defendant has a clinical picture of paranoid schizophrenia and dependence on cannabis or marijuana.

However, after the court’s decision, the defense lawyer assures that the ruling took him by surprise, because in the public hearing the Attorney General’s Office was unable to prove the guilt of his defendant in the act with evidence.

«It took us by surprise because in the public hearing both the witnesses and all the other evidence do not link my client, what is a fact is that it has been proven that when the events occurred, he was running and because they saw him running they captured him and When they captured him, they noticed him nervous and speaking incoherently, so because of this they have included him in this, but it is not really proven or proven that he was a participant in the criminal act, “ the defense attorney maintained.

He maintained that the only witness and victim in the process failed to point out the convicted person as being responsible for the attack, neither in a photo session, nor by physical characteristics.

«Despite that, the judge chose to issue that resolution against the interests of my client, and our position is that we are going to present the appeal at the respective time, “ Hernandez reported.

The facts that the Prosecutor’s Office attributed to him and for which Kevin Gómez was convicted occurred on April 20, 2022, on 8th Avenida Norte and 11 Calle Oriente in San Salvador, when aboard a unit on Route 52, he allegedly attacked with a knife to three passengers, one of them died inside the unit, and the other due to the seriousness of the injuries died in the hospital. One survived.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, before the attack, Kevin told passengers to “stop making fun of him” when he was inside the unit. The National Civil Police pointed out when he captured him that he had had a hallucination. “Everything indicates that Héctor Kevin García suffers from mental disorders,” said the police at the time of his capture.
