21-year-old woman dies during violent shooting in Chicago

A 21-year-old woman and mother of two children was killed in a violent shooting in Chicago this weekend.. This was reported by the news portal Fox News.

The victim was identified as Kanesha Gaines.

According to Fox News, Gaines was with a group of women in the 1500 block of South Keeler Avenue, located in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, around 1:00 AM this Sunday, when a group inside a vehicle stopped in front of them and started shooting at them.

During the shootout, Gaines was shot in the head and taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Another victim was also registered: a 28-year-old woman who is in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital after being shot 8 times in the torso. The identity of this victim has not yet been revealed.

Seven other victims, ranging in age from 20 to 33, sustained gunshot wounds during the shooting.

As reported by Fox News, the shooting in which Gaines was killed was just one of 29 reported shootings in Chicago this weekend, according to police information.

Likewise, police statistics reviewed by Fox News indicate that at least 47 victims were registered during this weekend of violence, which includes injuries and deaths.

This, unfortunately, has not been the only tragedy that the Gaines family has suffered. According to Fox News, Haines’ brother, Keshaun Graham, also died of gun violence in 2019, when he was 18 years old.

Natasha Graham, Gaines’ mother, told WMAQ-TV that it seemed unfair to her that there would be acts of violence every time young adults decided to go out for a bit of recreation.

Our children, our teenagers, should be able to go outside and play. Our young people should be able to go out, they should be allowed thisGraham told WMAQ-TV.

So far, no further details have been released about this shooting and no arrests have been made for it.
