NEW YORK — On Wednesday, New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers completed a wellness check and discovered a woman deceased as a result of a stabbing on Staten Island.
Police learned of the incident after receiving a 911 call, which they responded to shortly after 10 p.m.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Evelin Barajas Perez, was found at 371 Van Name Avenue in the Mariners Harbor neighborhood.
Perez was found with multiple stab wounds to her body. Emergency medical services recovered a knife at the scene.
No arrests have been made and the police investigation is still active.
