Alianni Rodríguez was killed on the night of this last Sunday in the Frank País neighborhood, in the Matanzas city of Colón, the president of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), Elena Larrinaga, reported on Twitter.

Rodriguez was a victim of femicide at the hands of a couple, identified as Adrián Barrios Rodríguez, who fled after committing his crime.

Alianni is the mother of a three-year-old girl, noted in Facebook the feminist magazine Alas Tensa, which also confirmed that this murder is the 46th feminicide so far in 2023.

The death of this young mother was also confirmed by the Cuban Women’s Network and the Femicide Observatory “YoSíTeCreo en Cuba”.

The magazine Alas Tensa commented that with this new case there have been 164 femicides on the island since its Observatory began counting the cases in 2019.

“It is inadmissible that no official Cuban institution or media echo this silent pandemic, and above all it is unacceptable that the regime does not adopt urgent measures such as the declaration of a state of emergency due to gender violence,” the independent media also noted. .

This last Friday it was also reported on the murder of another 37-year-old Cuban by his ex-partner in the municipality GuanabacoaIn the Habana.

The victim was identified as Nelbys Leyvawho is the mother of a minor and was murdered on June 16 last.

Leyva turned out to be the 45th victim in the registry of feminicides carried out by independent platforms and organizations that address these issues.

The number of femicides in Cuba continues to escalate brutally and at the moment there are 12 more than 34 cases recorded in 2022although the numbers may be higher because it is not known if there are official records on these deaths.

Shortly before this event, feminist platforms also reported the death of Liudmila Lewas Rendo, a 34-year-old woman who was attacked by her partner on February 13 in the Pedro Soto town, in the Melena del Sur municipality, Mayabeque province.

In addition, in this same month the murder of Yanet Mejias Gonzalez (24 years old), who was attacked with machetes; and the death of Miriam Isern Mompié (59 years old), found dead in her home in ManzanilloGranma province.

In the latter case, the platform indicated that it is a violent death that they have corroborated, but they claim they do not yet have enough elements to qualify it as a femicide.
