Writing.- A 65-year-old Mexican woman declared herself in a case of sex trafficking that involved more than ten women, including a minor.
The owner of a cantina in Texas, the Mexican Rita Martínez admitted guilty to the charge of trafficking a minor for commercial sex in his canteen, known as “Perez Lounge”, “Rita’s Lounge”, and “Rita’s Sports Bar”.
Meanwhile, the federal prosecutor for the Southern District of Texas, Alamdar Hadmani, stated that behind the bar, Martínez tormented and forced young migrants and girls to engage in sexual acts with Rita’s clients.
The woman is facing a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison, plus a fine of up to $250,000.
As part of the agreement, the defendant accepted paying more than $840,000 in restitution to 14 of his victims. The sentencing hearing has been set for September 7.
In January 2023, the alleged accomplice in the case, Genaro Fuentes, 40, had pleaded guilty to trafficking a minor for the purpose of commercial sex.
