A couple, parents of two young girls, was found beheaded at their home in the city of Vinchhiya, India, on Sunday afternoon. According to sources, they left a farewell letter for their children, where they asked their relatives to take care of them.

The victims were identified as Hemubhai and Makwana Makwana, aged 38 and 35, respectively. The police are investigating a possible ritual of human sacrifice, since an artifact similar to what would be a homemade guillotine held by a rope was found at the scene.

According to the police, the couple would have performed a ritual between last Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. This would have consisted of cutting off their own heads with a homemade mechanism similar to a guillotine. In addition, at the scene they also found a fire altar – a purifying element of Hinduism.

“The couple first prepared a fire altar before putting their heads under the mechanism,” Vinchhiya Police Deputy Inspector Indrajeetsinh Jadeja told the local Hindustan Times newspaper, adding that “as soon as they let go of the rope, a sheet of Iron fell on them, cutting off their heads, which rolled into the fire,” he added.

In turn, the couple had left a letter saying goodbye to their children and asking their relatives to take good care of the little ones. Who, in addition, told that although this type of ritual is not very common in India, the couple acted strangely during the last year and had begun to pray more than usual.

According to local media, witchcraft-related murders have increased in recent years
These types of suicide pacts or religious rituals are not usually common in India, but in recent times some murders have been known that could be related to these rituals. In areas of the interior of the country and less populated areas, local media assured that there are groups that still occasionally practice witchcraft, but in almost all cases third parties are murdered. It is for this fact that the case of this marriage powerfully drew the attention of the Indian Justice.

In early April 2023, the police managed to arrest and arrest five men for the murder of Shanti Shaw, a 69-year-old woman who in 2019 was beheaded with a machete inside a Hindu temple in Guwahati, in the northeastern Indian state of Assam. In this case, it is believed that there are around 12 people involved in the murder, reports the British newspaper The Guardian.
