A helicopter lands in a stadium in Ecuador and interrupts a soccer match

Guayaquil.- A helicopter landed this Tuesday at a stadium in the Andean city of Ibarra, in northern Ecuador, and interrupted a match in the promotion tournament between Independiente and La Cantara.

“The 20th minute of the first half was played and suddenly a helicopter circled three times over the stadium, then landed on the pitch, which also interrupted our transmission by leaving us without audio,” José Antonio Chávez, manager of the virtual channel, told Efe. Public TV of Ibarra.

He also said that “two people, looking like soldiers, entered at a fast run to where the helicopter landed, but no one left or entered,” and added: “After a few minutes he resumed the flight and the two people left the field until the stands, standing between the fans of both teams.

Chávez added that after the interruption, for about 10 minutes, the match resumed for the sixth date of the zonal tournament for promotion in the province of Imbabura (whose capital is Ibarra), which concluded with a 0-1 victory for La Cantera.
