in some neighborhoods of the city they received assistance/ sebastian casali

The lack of water in the region remains the order of the day, since there has not been a day since the beginning of the summer that neighborhood complaints were not registered for that reason. In the last few hours, complaints arose in Los Hornos and in City Bell, two towns in La Plata hard hit by problems with the supply of Aguas Bonaerenses -ABSA-.

Due to the deficit in the water supply of Los Hornos, users of streets 62 and 141 communicated with this newspaper and assured that “all” the neighborhood is in the same emergency. “More than 30 blocks around have the same problem. There is not a drop, neither during the day nor last night because if at least the tank loaded something at night we could manage better,” said Marcos Sasso, with a lot of anger against ABSA because “we have been like this for four months and I moved to claim in the company a lot of times”.

This lack of water, which is already “chronic” in the Los Hornos area, led different neighbors to carry out the process, both by phone and in person, to the company. “My sister, who lives twenty meters from my house and is desperate, already has 17 claims, and I have ten, but I also went to the Absa offices from 7 between 57 and 58 and to the Water Authority, in 5 between 39 and 40. The regulatory body told me that they were going to send personnel to check the lack of pressure, but no one has come yet,” added Sasso, who pays 3,800 pesos per month for the coverage of the sewage system and running water. .

It is almost a habit in that neighborhood that they do not want to get used to: being forced to buy water cans for daily consumption and moving to the house of a relative who is lucky enough to have the ABSA service and then they can go to wash clothes at that address away from the faucets where “not a drop” comes out.

The low pressure of the network in countless areas of the Region and the consequent shortage of water in homes, with numerous consecutive days in this situation, leads ABSA users to weariness.

In City Bell, for example, a group of neighbors gathered on Facebook turned the discomfort into a meme: after the phrase from a song by the band Maná that says “as I would like to live without water” a photo of the actress Meryl Streep shouting “Come live at City Bell”.

The occurrence, which garnered several comments, aroused some laughter among the residents of City Bell, but above all an energetic reaction to what they experience due to the lack of water in different areas of the town.

One of the neighbors who adhered to the post recounted her daily experience, which can well summarize that of so many users who accumulate days and days without water. “I’m sick of turning on the washing machine at three in the morning and collecting water at that time for the rest of the day,” she said indignantly.

On the other hand, the space served to denounce other failures of ABSA, such as a couple of water leaks on the public highway of City Bell, which, it is known, are usually the cause of low pressure in the network. One of the pipe breaks was noticed on 13a street between 472 and 473 (Cantilo) and the other on 462 between Centenario and 12b roads.

Strictly speaking, for a long time there is no area of the Region that has not suffered from a shortage of water supply, a fact that deepens in the hottest months of the year.

There are two fronts for organized complaints: the Tolosa Neighborhood Assembly, which promotes the declaration of the Region in a situation of water emergency, and the Vecinos Ordenados group, an association based in the north of the City that announced the presentation of a request of collective judicial protection in demand of the provision of water through the network of ABSA.
