A new edition of Palabra Viva Weekend

MIAMI.- On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Cuatrogatos Foundation hold your annual event Living Word Weekendwith a program that, as usual, will include a proposal for the whole family, especially for children, and another dedicated to the adult audience.

At 11:00 am, in collaboration with Imago x las Artes, Cuatrogatos will present the book Bye, family!, written by Sergio Andrican, illustrated by Hctor Borlasca and published by the Colombian label Enlace Editorial. It will be a morning with stories, games, poems, songs and surprises in which Andrican will have as guests the singer-songwriter and children’s book author Rita Rosa Ruesga and the writer and oral narrator Omira Bellizzio.

The day will also serve to celebrate the birth of Hans Christian Andersen 219 years ago. The Danish writer wrote stories and stories for children considered classics of universal literature among which stand out for their popularity, the quality of their writing and their profound humanism The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Wild Swans and The Little Soldier of lead.

The book Bye, family! tells the story of Pablito, a boy who drives his family to despair because he is very messy. One day, tired of everyone scolding him for this reason, Pablito makes a dramatic decision: he will divorce his family. Success his plan?

On April 6, at 8:30 pm, the While the words are brokena poetry reading by the Cuban writer Emilio de Armas, in which the renowned author will share with the audience a selection of his extensive work, in which, among other concerns and themes, those related to poetic creation, the existence human, death and God.

Emilio de Armas was born in Camagey, in 1946. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Havana and completed a doctorate in Spanish Language at Florida International University. Among his numerous published books of poetry are Claims and presences (1983), The forehead under the sun (1988), white on white (1993), just burning (1995), About the brevity of ashes (2005, Eugenio Florit Poetry Prize), Time of silence (2012), standing on the ground (2017) y Single word (2018).

This recital, presented by the Cuatrogatos Foundation in collaboration with the Artefactus Cultural Center, celebrates the 45th anniversary of the publication of De Armas’ first collection of poems: La extraa Fiestawinner of the March 13 Poetry Prize awarded by the University of Havana in 1979.
