A shipment of drugs seized in the Pacific arrives in El Salvador and 6 detainees

San Salvador.- A shipment of almost a ton of cocainevalued at about 25 million dollars, and six people arrested at the beginning of July in the waters of the Pacific were presented this Monday in El Salvador, according to the authorities.

The National Civil Police (PNC) identified the detainees as Juan Moreira, Carlos Chávez and Davis Solórzano, all three of Ecuadorian origin. The arrest of the Mexicans Francisco Pimentel, Sergio Arriola and Luis Burgos was also reported.

“This is how the National Civil Police proceeds to the chain of custody, to make them available to the Prosecutor’s Office until they are destroyed with court orders,” said the director of the PNC, Mauricio Arriaza.

The seizure was made 972 kilometers from the coast salvadoran and that he was in a boat, which according to the authorities is the furthest seizure from the Salvadoran coast that has been made.

According to the Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro, between 2019 and 2023 more than 33 tons of drugs have been seized, valued by the authorities at more than 710 million dollars.
