A shooting left four people dead in Louisiana during the Day of Independence of the USA.

Washington.- A shooting left at least four dead and seven injured during Tuesday night in the town of Shreveport (Louisiana), during a celebration for the Independence Day of the United States.

Media such as CNN reported on Wednesday the event, which is being investigated by the authorities. Although three fatalities were initially counted, authorities found a fourth body in the area this morning, according to The New York Times, citing police sources.

So far no arrests have been made.

The event is added to the shootings that took place in the hours before the celebration of Independence Day in different cities of the country, such as Fort Worth (Texas) and Philadelphia (Pennsylvania).

Eight people were killed and 10 wounded in total throughout Monday in mass shootings, which the Gun Violence Archive organization defines as those in which more than four people plus the shooter are killed or injured.

According to the group, which is in charge of keeping a record of firearms incidents in the country, so far in 2023 there have been 346 mass shootings.

In an Independence Day statement on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden called for laws banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, among other things.
