Publisher Ubisoft is currently having some problems, which is why the company wants to focus more on its strongest brands. Among them, of course, the popular Assassin’s Creed series, which hopefully will soon have a brand new offshoot with Mirage. In recent years, new entrants to the franchise have been fairly gargantuan RPG monsters that players have had to put in hundreds of hours to see everything the games had to offer. With Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft wants to take a different path and as it turns out, the fans were a key reason for this decision.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is for all players who are tired of gigantic RPGs

in one Conversation with GamesRadar Creative Director Stéphane Boudon explained that several factors went into making Mirage, but the most important was the voice of the community. The series underwent a kind of transition with Assassin’s Creed Origins from 2017, which the sequels Odyssey and Valhalla further reinforced. While Ubisoft considers these three offshoots to be “great games,” the community was longing for a change of pace after all these years.

“We started hearing from our fans a desire for a character-driven story that would focus on the cornerstones of the first Assassin’s Creed on a more intimate scale. That resonates with us as developers, and that was the starting point of the project.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage (buy now ) pays tribute to the origins of the franchise in several ways. Among other things, the title is set in a similar part of the world and focuses directly on the assassins, rather than on the themes that the last installments in the series dealt with. The fact that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be much smaller overall than titles like Valhalla and Odyssey will also be reflected in the price.
