Carlos Julián Maldonado Dávila, who is facing trial for the death of Natalia Nicole in 2022, will return this Thursday to the San Juan Court.

The judicial process had been postponed at the end of April, after Maldonado Dávila was shot while traveling on the PR-22 express from San Juan to Bayamón.

After the shooting, the injured man drove to a CDT in Cataño, where he was diagnosed with injuries to his side and arm.

Meanwhile, the authorities analyze the images from security cameras near the place where the incident occurred.

THE DEATH OF NATALIA NICOLE

The events occurred at around 11:20 pm on January 4, 2022, on the left side of the ramp that connects with the PR-22 highway, known as Expreso José de Diego, in the direction of San Juan to Bayamón.

The young woman was changing the tire on the right front of her vehicle together with Sosa Bigio, 23, when they were hit by the BMW vehicle allegedly driven by Maldonado Dávila, who was the director of Barceloneta Tourism.

The accused, the authorities maintain, continued the march, fleeing and never stopping to help the couple. As a result of the multiple bodily traumas suffered as a result of the impact, Natalia Nickole died the following day at the Hospital Centro Médico de Río Piedras. Sosa Bigio received medical attention, since she suffered trauma to her left hip and right leg.

He testifies in the trial against the driver accused of hitting them while they were trying to change a tire.

Due to these facts, the San Juan Prosecutor’s Office of the Department of Justice filed two charges against him under Article 5.07 of Law No. 22 of 2000, known as the Puerto Rico Vehicle and Traffic Law, for causing the death of the young woman and physical injuries to Sosa Bigio while recklessly and negligently driving a motor vehicle.

Maldonado Dávila, said Justicia, did not stop to offer help or provide information about the event to the authorities, for which a charge was also filed under Article 4.02 of said statute.

“The defendant’s actions constitute criminal negligence and will be rigorously prosecuted by the Public Ministry. He not only ran over two people, but also did not stop to help them, which could have made a difference in the outcome of this tragedy. Our support and solidarity for the mother and relatives of Natalia Nickole and Carlos Adihl. We will provide them with all the support and services they require during this process”said the Secretary of Justice, Domingo Emanuelli Hernández.
