Trial of FundaRedes director rescheduled for 2024

CARACAS.- Activist Javier Tarazona, director of FundaRedescompleted three years in prison this Tuesday, July 2. The lawyer also remains imprisoned at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) and was accused of the alleged commission of the crimes of terrorism, incitement to hatred and treason.

The director in charge of FundaRedes, Clara Ramírez, pointed out that Tarazona has faced a judgment totally flawed and in which he was charged without evidence.

“Today, Javier Tarazona is an example of how the Venezuelan state (regime) criminalizes human rights defenders, as well as how threats and acts of harassment against us materialize,” Ramírez said.

Third trial

The NGO Justice, Encounter and Forgiveness indicated that activist Javier Tarazona has been a prisoner of conscience for three years. “His detention represents a violation of his rights. He is currently facing his third sentence.” judgment “which has been initiated against him, in a flagrant violation of due process,” they said.

The next public hearing for Javier Tarazona and other activists has been scheduled for July 16.
