Actor Patrick Kalupa spent more than a third of his life tinkering with an old VW Beetle. Now he lets the classic car roll proudly over the asphalt.

Berlin – Actor Patrick Kalupa (“Alarm for Cobra 11 – The Autobahn Police”) has renovated an old VW Beetle – this project has accompanied him for more than a third of his life. “Because I kept taking longer breaks from screwing, it unbelievably took about 15 years before I could proudly roll my Beetle over the asphalt,” said the 43-year-old in an interview with the German Press Agency. “So now I enjoy shooting my tours with the oldie even more when the weather is nice.”

The Berliner also needs skilled hands in his new television role. In the new ZDF format “Dr. Nice” from the “Herzkino” series – this Sunday at 8.15 p.m. in the second – Kalupa plays the brilliant surgeon Moritz Neiss, who after a serious accident can no longer move his hand properly due to carelessness. In the first episode “Hand on Heart” an unexpected phone call brings him to the German-Danish border, where his 16-year-old daughter Lea lives – whom he knew nothing about until now. The second ZDF film “Alte Wunden” will then be broadcast on April 23 at 8:15 p.m.

Kalupa competes with a certain self-confidence against the ARD Sunday thriller. “The Scene of the Crime is a strong competitor, but I think our ‘Dr. Nice” is a worthy contender for the TV crown on Sunday evening with a lot of wit, heart, excitement and a good portion of brashness – and without any dead bodies! In the “Dr. Nice” cosmos, true-to-life stories are told.” It’s about family, loyalty, friendship, empathy, and also about respect. “That’s something that we particularly need these days.” dpa
