Adrin Appiolaza presents 1st men's collection for Moschino

MILN.- The new artistic director of Moschino, the Argentine Adrin Appiolazapresented today -June 14- at the Milan Fashion Week his first collection masculine for the Italian luxury brand, which combines subversion, elegance and freedom of movement.

In a huge hangar on the eastern outskirts of Milan, models walked briskly among piles of colorful suitcases, transporting guests to a world of explorers escaping the city.

The irreverent and pop-inspired brand founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino, thus marked its return to the men’s catwalks in Milan after two years of absence.

Milan Men’s Fashion Week, dedicated to the spring-summer 2025 collections, offers a total of 84 events until Tuesday, with 24 shows and 52 presentations.

The cuts are fluid, the lines soft and the fabrics light: the Moschino man wears loose overalls with thin ties and shirts with bucolic prints or gentleman farmer-style jacket and shorts sets.

The Argentine designer filled his show with fun touches, with faux pizza stains on sober shirts, model airplanes bolted to hats, and heart-shaped briefcases.

For the occasion, he turned to the brand’s rich archives, updating iconic pieces to perpetuate the legacy of founder Franco Moschino and celebrate the return to origins.

“Break the codes”

“The mantra of his collection, faithful to the brand’s DNA, is freedom of expression in the way he dresses, comfort,” Appiolaza declared after the show. “The codes must be broken or even destroyed.”

“The other leitmotif It is exploring the world, exploring the spirit. With this first men’s collection, I am exploring where I am going to take Moschino,” he explained.

The boundaries between masculine and feminine garments are blurred. “A woman’s scarf can be tied like a skirt, a man’s shirt can become a wedding dress,” she added.

Appiolaza, an Argentine designer with an eccentric style, was named creative director of Moschino in January, following the sudden death of his predecessor Davide Renne just 10 days after taking his position.

Davide Renne came to the position after the departure of Jeremy Scott, known for his extravagant collections and who marked Moschino for a decade.

A former collaborator of Jonathan Anderson for the Spanish luxury brand Loewe, Adrian Appiolaza presented his first women’s collection for Moschino in February in Milan, full of elegance but with eccentric touches.

“I always admired Franco Moschino’s abrasive irony,” Appiolaza said in January. “His creations were not simple articles of clothing, but a commentary on the status quo of the society of its time, built with fabric,” he stressed.
