Aeroflot increases its weekly flights to Varadero to three

The airline Russian company Rossiya, owned by the state-owned Aeroflot, will increase from September by a frequency the flights from Moscow bound for the international airport Juan Gualberto Gómez de Varaderowith the purpose of increasing the arrival of tourists from that country to Cuba.

According to the specialized Russian media Aviaport, to the two weekly flights that arrive at the main Cuban resort on Thursdays and Saturdays a third will be addedwhich will arrive on Tuesdays.

Rossiya’s SU/FV6927 flights will leave Moscow on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays around 9:10 GMT and will arrive in Varadero at 3:30 PM, while the return flights (SU/FV6928) will depart on the same days at 7: 10PM, with arrival at 2:45 GMT the next day.

Rossiya operates this route with Boeing 777 aircraft with capacity for 457 passengers, 436 in economy class and 21 in business class.

The flight from Moscow to Varadero is Rossiya’s longest to date. It lasts 14 hours and requires the aircraft to make a detour over the North Sea to exit the Atlantic, because since February 2022 the skies of Europe have been banned from Russian aircraft as a sanction for the invasion of Ukraine.

Rossiya opened a program of direct flights from Russia to Cuba last july 1st, as part of the strengthening of ties between Havana and Moscow. Cuba does not require a visa for Russians, who are currently the fourth largest tourist market on the island.

According to the authorities of both countries, by the end of 2023 mutual passenger traffic is expected to reach 150,000 people.
