A few days after Indochina, it was Louise Attaque’s turn to oppose the holding of the festival in Perpignan, a stronghold of the National Rally.
Louise Attaque threatens, like Indochine, not to play at the Festival Les Déferlantes if the event is held in Perpignan, a city managed by Louis Aliotfigure of the National Rally.
“Initially planned for the municipality of Céret, [le festival] was moved to the town of Perpignan by the organizers, without our having been consulted”, deplores Louise Attaque in a press release published on Telerama’s websitebefore adding:
“The RN mayor of the city of Perpignan immediately welcomed it through a tweet. Not wishing to endorse either the fait accompli method or the possible recovery of the festival by the town hall, we also ask the management of Les Déferlantes to do everything possible to find another place.”
Louise Attaque pleads for “a place that meets everyone’s expectations: organizers, artists and festival-goers. In the current state of things and in this specific context, we do not wish to participate in this event.”
Improve the “comfort” of festival-goers
Contacted by The Independent this weekend after the announcement of Indochine, Fabrice Lorente, co-director of Frontera Production, which produces and organizes Les Déferlantes, refused to comment on the case: “At this stage, we take note of their decision to condition their coming”.
The decision to change location from the town of Céret to the city of Perpignan was taken by the organizers to improve the “comfort” of the festival-goers and to adapt to the “ambitions of the festival”, specifies a press release from the direction of the festival.
“Les Déferlantes therefore give you an appointment in Perpignan, on the edge of the Têt, facing the Canigou, in front of an exhibition center that the regulars will not recognize as our scenography efforts will be increased tenfold”, explains the press release.
In addition to Indochine and Louise Attaque, the festival must also welcome Shaka Ponk, David Guetta, Bigflo & OliSoprano, David Guetta and Sting.
