In other words, you will lose access to the games you purchased and your saves. CD Projekt RED has announced that you will be able to recover your backup using the Google Takeout tool. Note that you must download your backup before the service closes, once Stadia shuts down, it will no longer be possible to recover your progress. Thanks to the synchronization of saves on GOG, you can even transfer your progress to Cyberpunk 2077 if you play on console.

Ubisoft announced early on that Ubisoft games acquired on Stadia would be transferred automatically to Ubisoft Connect PC, via the account you’ve linked with Stadia (if your games haven’t yet, remember to link your accounts before January 18). Note that five games are an exception : Family Feud, Just Dance 2020, Just Dance 2021, Just Dance 2022, Trivial Pursuit Live! 2. You don’t will not be able to transfer virtual currencies acquired in Ubisoft games via Stadia, so the publisher will advises spending them on games on Stadia before it closes. As for backups, all games that support cross-progression will automatically transfer your saves.

IO Interactive gives you the ability to transfer your progress for Hitman 3 on Stadia to another machine. Note that this transfer is only possible once, and above all that it will overwrite your backup on the machine where you send it. It will be necessary connect your IO Interactive account on Stadia and on the other machine. As of today, the possibility of progress transfer is activated. You have until January 17 to link your account. the transfer should be executed between January 26 and 27. IO Interactive warns that transfer requests for latecomers will only be possible until February 16.

For TESO, the process is quite simple. If you’ve played the MMO on Stadia, all you need to do is connect to the Bethesda site via your The Elder Scrolls Online account, and download the game on PC or Mac. As soon as the announcement of Stadia’s closure, Bungie announced that it was looking into the question of Destiny 2 character progressions on Stadia. The procedure for don’t lose your character is the following : before January 18, log in to Destiny 2 on Stadia. Enable cross-save with another platform, and select your Stadia characters as Active Guardians. If you don’t before January 18you will lose access to your characters, items, emblems, Season pass, etc…

Red Dead Redemption II

It would be a shame to lose all his progress in Red Dead Redemption II, as the game is vast. A few months ago, a player who had spent 6,000 hours on the game via Stadia was desperate to lose everything, but Rockstar reassured him. Indeed, the editor had explained that all players who played RDR2 on Stadia in the month prior to the shutdown announcement will be able to transfer the entire game of their RDO$, gold, levels, role levels and role tokens to an existing PC, Xbox One or PS4 account. Affected players will simply have to link the targeted account to their Rockstar Social Club account and can then contact the publisher via the support website.
