The group Extinction Rebellion sees support from the population after their protests in Berlin over the past few days. “Due to the lack of government action, we are seeing more and more people joining our protest,” the group said on Monday. There is also no split in the climate movement. “The forms of action of different movements such as Fridays For Future, Last Generation or Extinction Rebellion do not contradict each other,” it said. “Civil disobedience is morally and strategically important and right.”

In the past few days, Extinction Rebellion had drawn attention to the loss of species and the climate crisis with actions in Berlin. Among other things, activists dumped oil-like black paint on buildings. Dozens of people were temporarily arrested on suspicion of property damage and other crimes. This week, the Last Generation group is planning its own protests. It’s known for roadblocks with activists taped to it. Last week, a spokeswoman for the Fridays for Future movement was critical of the forms of protest of the last generation. Fridays for Future is also planning an action for this week with a view to the FDP federal party conference in Berlin.
