After dozens of questions, which arose above all from the opposition, INDEC decided to reverse the measure to postpone the announcement of the inflation data for the elections that will take place on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of this month.

Carlos Castagneto’s body had argued that due to the “political ban”, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) would be published on Sunday, May 15. However, the announcement will be made on the day previously scheduled.

INDEC will not postpone the dissemination of inflation data

“The director Marco Lavagna informs that the changes to the anticipated calendar announced this morning are without effect. The technical reports will be disseminated on the originally established dates. The head of INDEC regretted that separating the institute’s statistical work from the electoral process was misinterpreted and was arouse suspicions about the integrity of INDEC’s statistical work,” the agency said in a statement.

The measure taken by Lavagna was based on the fact that on the weekend of the 13th and 14th, the provinces of Salta, Tucumán, San Juan, Tierra del Fuego and La Pampa would carry out their corresponding elections.

Finally, the inflation percentage for the month of April will be known this Friday, May 12.
