The event occurred this afternoon at the intersection of Nazca and Beiró avenues, a few blocks from the large premises of the Comunicaciones club, where personnel from the 15C Neighborhood Police Station of the City Police went after receiving a 911 call that alerted about shots in public. According to sources, the alleged shooter was arrested at the scene, identified as Sebastián Bargas Orellana (26), who serves in the PFA’s Neighborhood Deployment Section I, was dressed as a civilian and was carrying a bag.
According to the spokespersons, as a result of the shots, which occurred when the victims were getting out of a taxi, Camila Soledad Juárez (26), ex-partner of the now detainee, was injured; Cintia Roxana Santa Cruz (30); and Ulises Javier González Dos Santos (29); all of them belonging to the Basic Professional Training Course for Agents of the same force.
In turn, a fourth applicant who was traveling in the same rental vehicle was unharmed and testified this afternoon as a witness before the Buenos Aires police investigators. The sources specified that Santa Cruz suffered at least one wound to the abdomen and was urgently transferred in an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAME) to the Tornú Hospital.
While Juárez was shot in the abdomen and another in the right thigh; and González Dos Santos a wound in the abdominal area and thorax; for which both were taken to the Zubizarreta Hospital. The doctors then decided to refer Santa Cruz and her partner to the Churruca Visca Police Hospital, while Juárez was undergoing life-threatening surgery at Zubizarreta.
Meanwhile, the sources indicated that the main hypothesis points to Bargas Orellana, who lives in the Ituzaingó district of Buenos Aires, wanted to kill Juárez. In this regard, Miguel, an employee of a mattress and box spring sales store located hand in hand with across from the corner where the shots were fired, told the A24 news channel this afternoon that the victims arrived at the scene aboard a taxi and that the shooter was already waiting for them there.
The man was inside the premises and together with a colleague he saw “a person standing on the corner, waiting for four people to get out of the taxi, two women and two men.”
The investigations believe that, seeing that Juárez was holding hands with one of his companions, the defendant took out his service pistol and began to shoot at them. “Suddenly he pulls out a weapon and starts shooting, he shoots the two women inside the taxi and one of the men inside the taxi,” Miguel said, adding that he heard “at least six to nine shots.”
After the bullets, one of the women was left lying inside the motorcycle dealership located a few meters from the corner, and the other ran away in the opposite direction. “Look what you made me do,” Miguel explained that the defendant yelled at Juárez as soon as he finished shooting and threw his weapon to the ground.
He also said that together with his co-worker he threw himself on the floor of the premises as a precaution when the shooting began and that one of the projectiles hit the roof of the store. What happened is investigated by the National Criminal and Correctional Judge 5, Manuel De Campo; and Secretary 116 of Tamara García, who ordered the arrest of the suspect at the intervening police station, the seizure of the weapon and six used pods.
On the other hand, the head of the PFA Studies Division, commissioner Miguel Ferrer, was present at the Zubizarreta, awaiting the result of the surgical intervention in Juárez; At the same time, the head of the Aspirants Corps Division, Commissioner Roberto Danna, was in the Churruca.
