Agua de Puebla rejects failing to comply with sanitation

PUEBLA, Pue. (apro).– The company Agua de Puebla denied that, as part of the reports that have been presented in the collective action that was filed against it, it has been confirmed that it does not comply with the wastewater sanitation service.

In a letter he sent to ProcessAs a reply to the note published on June 20, the concessionaire of the water service in the metropolitan area of Puebla maintains that, although there is a controversy that is being heard in a civil court, “the maturity and procedural stage of the procedure” do not allow to sustain the affirmations made by René Sánchez Galindo, representative of the community.

The company recognizes that in the municipality of Puebla there are five wastewater treatment plants, which capture waste not only from this capital, but also from the metropolitan area such as San Andrés Cholula, San Pedro Cholula, Cuautlancingo, Ocoyucan and Amozoc, “whose infrastructure is insufficient to meet this need.”

However, he accuses that the accusations against him made by the community, which represents the 450,000 users of the privatized service, “are not supported by evidence,” nor is the expressed claim that the court imposes on this company fines for non-compliance.

“… there is no evidence provided by said community to deny that the Wastewater Treatment Plants are not working, that they are not carrying out sanitation through the processes and even more, that the treated water does not comply with the parameters established in the NOM”, he argues.

It adds that, to date, there is no legal pronouncement that proves the non-compliance that is intended to be imposed on that concessionaire.

It concludes that the statements made by the community are based on “approximations and interpretations”, which cannot distort the existence of the sanitation infrastructure, drainage networks, collectors, treatment plants, physical, chemical, biological processes, as well as the actions of monitoring and control studies of wastewater discharge that allows knowledge of the composition of polluting agents.

“In this sense, Agua de Puebla has accreditation and compliance with the federal authorities in terms of water management and care, which comprehensively represents the provision of sanitation for the benefit of citizens and users of public services,” underlines.

At a press conference, the Por el Bienestar Social community presented sampling reports carried out at the five treatment plants operated by the company, which presumably indicate that the presence of coliforms exceeds the Official Mexican Standard (NOM) by more than 1,200%.

This community accuses the company of failing to clean up the wastewater that it has charged users for 10 years, since it obtained the public service concession.
