Coincidence or planned?
Four of the images that made it into our picks this week were undoubtedly shot outdoors. Coincidence always plays a certain role, because nobody can escape the influences of nature. With some pictures, the viewer wonders whether the photographer planned it or whether it was just luck. The truth lies somewhere in between. But even the greatest luck is of no use if you lack the eye for the right moment and the practice.
Sharp-Architecture
When taking the picture of the Deichtor Office Center in Hamburg, gallery photographer Felix Klein (Flixphotos) could not foresee that the sky would be completely gray and that a perfectly neutral background would be reflected in his picture. The fact that this picture was “only” taken and edited with a mobile phone also shows that practice and a trained eye are worth more than an expensive camera.
The photographer says about his: “The clear lines, this ordered structure simply had to be captured in the picture. So straight and elegant, for me in times like these, an expression of order”.

The polar opposite of an impromptu photo is gallery photographer Fuzzle’s shot. He created the background against which the model appears to be standing using AI tools. The portrait, which is in the center of the picture, was lit to match the background and the fog was used to create the atmosphere. The result is a composition to be proud of.
Nothing was left to chance with this recording and it’s certainly not a matter of luck. The effort and the resources used clearly testify to the expertise of the creator.
This shows that different approaches have their place in photography, but that certain skills are also required to achieve extraordinary results.
