Dusseldorf.
The most important airports in NRW increased their passenger numbers in 2022. Nevertheless, the numbers from before the Corona period have not yet been reached.

The passenger numbers the six main commercial airports in NRW have increased in 2022 compared to the previous year almost doubled. But they’re still around almost a third below the level of the pre-Corona year 2019.

As the State Statistical Office announced on Friday, around 2022 flew 14.9 million passengers from the airports of Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund, Münster/Osnabrück, Weeze and Paderborn/Lippstadt. That was 7.3 million more than in 2021, but around 6.8 million fewer than before the pandemic in 2019.

In 2022, 18.1 percent of all commercial passengers in Germany departed from one of the main airports in NRW. Around 13.7 million of the passengers departing from the main airports in NRW flew abroad. (dpa/epd)
