In Charly-sur-Marne, in the Aisne, a fire broke out around midnight in a two-storey house, Monday, February 6. Inside was a blended family. The mother and her seven children, trapped, did not survive.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the pavilion was already fully ablaze. At 1 a.m. on the night of February 6, they were alerted by a neighbor. Very quickly, a first victim is extracted from the ground floor, a 40-year-old man, seriously burned but aware. The other family members took refuge on the second floor. The balance sheet is heavy. “There are eight people who died, including a lady, seven children aged 2 to 14“, said Fatou Mano, sub-prefect of Château-Thierry (Aisne).
An investigation has been opened
The fire surprised the family in this house located in the middle of a narrow street in Charly-sur-Marne (Aisne). In the village, many are moved and think of the father, the only survivor of the tragic disaster. “It’s tragic, it’s horrible what’s going on”is moved a resident. Listening cells have been set up. The victims probably died of asphyxiation, according to the prosecutor. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact causes of the fire.
