Alcaraz gives Spain its first celebration of the day by winning Wimbledon

Carlos Alcaraz surpasses for the second consecutive year Novak Djokovic in the final of Wimbledon and has 4 Grand Slam titles.

The Spanish surpassed Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the final Wimbledon men’s singles championship on Sunday to claim his fourth Grand Slam title at age 21.

It was a rematch of last year’s grass-court final at the All England Club, which the Spaniard won in five sets.

This time — in front of a packed house that included Kate, Princess of Wales, who made a rare public appearance since announcing she had cancer — it was easier for Alcaraz, at least until he stumbled on three match points while serving for a 5-4 win in the third set.

But Alcaraz regrouped and eventually claimed his second straight major title after winning the French Open on clay last month.

The Spaniard won his first Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open as a teenager and no other tennis player has ever collected as many trophies at a major before turning 22.

She also improved to 4-0 in Grand Slam finals.

Djokovic, 37, wearing a gray sleeve on his repaired right knee, failed to capture his eighth Wimbledon title and take his total to 25 major championships.

The Serbian suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee on June 3 at Roland Garros and underwent surgery two days later in Paris.

Less than six weeks later, Djokovic was far from his best performances — and Alcaraz certainly had some blame for this.
