Indeed, today, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, during the inspection visit of certain pharmaceutical institutions at the level of the industrial pole of Sidi Abdallah, in the wilaya of Algiers, or lewali of the wilaya of Algiers, Mohamed Abdelnour Rabhi, accompanied him, Minister Aoun specified that the factory in Oued Smar in Algiers is ready for use for the production of insulin, but also that the real production will start from January 10. By specifying on this subject also work will be carried out to reach the coverage 50% of the national needs.

Further, regarding the shortage of cancer drugs, Ali Aoun said, “I have a list of five items, and these drugs are currently at the airport. »

Following his visit to the “Sanofi” production and distribution site, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry officially called on officials to increase production capacity and integrate high value-added drugs to replace imports.

He also reminded company managers of their responsibilities regarding the supply of materials produced or imported by Sanofi under strict control to pharmaceutical establishments for wholesale distribution.

Moreover, during this visit, the Minister will take stock of the progress of the works of the Research and Development Center of the Saïdal complex.

This visit is part of the new strategy to advance the pharmaceutical industry sector, by promoting local production to cover the national market.

Messaoud Belamri reveals more details about the drug shortage

The president of the Syndicate of pharmacists (SNAPO), Messaoud Belamri has identified several causes which are at the origin of this shortage. According to him, there are internal and external factors.
