In the early 2000s, EA was involved American McGee’s Alice released a popular, if somewhat bizarre, PC platformer. Almost 10 years later appeared with Alice: Madness Returns the sequel to the cult classic, which also received a lot of praise. While there hasn’t been a third installment to date, that doesn’t mean American McGee hasn’t tried to bring the brand back. So we reported in 2019 that a prequel is planned. But there seems to be no future for this very project.

No future for Alice Asylum

This news, which is not particularly pleasant for fans, was announced by McGee on the project’s Patreon page. “After a few weeks of discussing (the project), EA responded regarding funding and/or licensing of ‘Alice Asylum’“, according to the game designer. McGee had to announce that neither of the two options is an option for Electronic Arts.

On the question of financing, it was decided to decline based on an internal analysis of the brand, the market conditions and the details of the proposed product. Regarding licensing, they have replied that ‘Alice’ is an important brand in the EA games catalog and they are currently not willing to sell or license it.

If EA decides to market an Alice game in the future, McGee wants nothing to do with it. At least that’s what his Patreon post says. In any case, the dream of the third Alice game seems to be over.

More EA news

In the EA cosmos, we are particularly worried Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and EA Sports FC for headlines. While we’ve already reported on the system requirements for the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, the most recent soccer sim news was about the Ultimate Team mode. In this, women should finally appear for the first time.
