After the normal variant had been on our benches for just over three months, it was finally time for the Amazfit Bip 3 Pro to be the target of our complete battery of tests!

But is the Chinese giant’s new smartwatch able to deliver an even more complete set than the common version, giving reason to the “Pro” of its name? You can find that and much more in our full review below.

Amazfit BIP 3: the best cost-effective activity monitor

construction and design

Available to the public in black, pink and cream, the Bip 3 Pro brings exactly the same look as the normal variant, adopting the square format that was popularized by Apple and which has been following the line for some time.

Waterproof and very light, barely noticeable when worn, the watch is sold in a thin and long box, and comes with manuals and the already routine charging base.

With a silicone bracelet and a box that mixes hard plastic and glass on the screen, here we have basically the same presentation as some other Amazfit wearables, with an activation/back button on the right side and sensors for measuring body indices on the bottom.

Another similarity is the bracelet switching mechanism. Just like the normal version, just use the pins located at the ends of each side to make the change.

But let’s get to one of the main points of this category: the screen. Here, we have a 1.68-inch display with TFT technology of almost 220 ppi that, despite not bringing truly black blacks or the best definition, delivers a good experience.

As long as the brightness is at maximum, it shouldn’t be a problem to see the information displayed on the screen even in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, despite the “Pro” in the name, we still don’t have a sensor for automatic brightness balancing here.

In addition, although it is not possible to see the pixels on the screen, one or another interface item reveals a certain serration, delivering a slightly lower density.

But don’t be fooled! The whole set is quite harmonious, as we saw in the normal variant of the Bip 3, and the result of the sum between design and construction should please most potential users, especially those who do not demand so much from a smartwatch.

System

Leaving design aside, let’s talk about the system! In this regard, those who landed here expecting a more complete set than seen in the normal variant, may be disappointed. If you were expecting more or less the same thing, but with a few extras, you might have come to the right place.

Here, with few exceptions, we have the same thing we’ve already seen in the Bip 3. That is, an activity monitor capable of tracking your daily body indices, both at rest and in activity, able to capture and display your heart rate, oxygenation levels of blood, stress, steps taken, hours of sleep and, in the case of women, the menstrual cycle; but nothing much more than that.

In the case of training, there are more than 60 modalities available, ranging from walking and running outdoors, to more specific modalities such as dance, BMX, strength training and yoga. And in that respect, a differential for the Pro variant.

Here, taking advantage of its water resistance of up to 5 ATM, the watch’s menus bring modalities aimed directly at swimming, whether in open water or in pools.

For the Pro version, it is also sure to come with integrated GPS. This is because despite the normal variant having been announced and marketed in some markets with built-in GPS, the feature is not always present; something that is not repeated in the variant analyzed here.

Thus, the model ensures that your activities carried out outdoors can have their routes traced and then be viewed in the app.

Application

And by the way, here we have exactly the same experience that we are used to seeing for other devices from Xiaomi and its subsidiaries – as is the case with Amazfit.

Called Zeep, the app is capable of keeping a complete history of user data collected by the watch, keeping track of steps taken, physical activity sessions, heart rate, stress and oxygenation rates, etc.

In addition, the application allows you to make more advanced adjustments to measurements, set alarms and goals, and choose new dials for the screen.

Apart from the default watch face, it is possible to choose and synchronize a new watchface from a “store” built into Zeep itself. This one has many options available, with dials divided into a wide variety of categories.

Drums

Equipped with a 280 mAh battery that can be charged in just under 2 hours, the autonomy of the Bip 3 Pro deserves the same emphasis as the normal version.

In our tests, with moderate use, tracking most of the body indices at all times and with several 1-hour training sessions, the watch was able to withstand just over 15 days away from the sockets; brand slightly higher than promised by Amazfit itself.

Therefore, for those who use the watch even less, it is likely that the number of days off the charger will be even greater. For those who demand the most, with constant GPS activations, for example, it is likely that this mark will be cut to something around 7 days.

concluded

But then, is the Pro variant of the Amazfit Bip 3 worth it or not?

Undoubtedly, the watch brings a very complete set for those looking for an activity monitor, but who do not sympathize with the design of smartbands, preferring to remain within this format popularized by Apple for its smartwatches.

It brings good construction and a concise design, integrated GPS that adds up for those who like to do outdoor activities and autonomy that can guarantee its user to spend a few good days away from the sockets.

But he is not perfect. In addition to bringing a set of functions that may be insufficient to classify it as a smartwatch, in fact, and having a screen that can be considered weak in some respects, the variant is slightly lost in terms of the amount charged.

In our searches, the watch is being sold in national retail for almost R$ 210 more than the normal variant. A rather absurd difference if you take into account that the only big difference between the models is the presence of GPS in the Pro version.

The comparison is even more unfair if we take into account some slightly more advanced models. With a few reais more, the user will be able to buy a watch with more features and a better construction, as is the case of the Amazfit GTS 4 mini.

Thus, answering whether the Bip 3 Pro is worth it or not becomes an easy task. If the difference between the normal variant and the Pro is small, taking the model home can be a good alternative.

If the difference is high and the model’s value is close to that of more complete watches, it may be better to wait for the price to drop or buy a more enhanced smartwatch soon.
